I digitally altered this shot to emphasize the movement; it was done in such a way that the surfer in the imgage could be kept largely unaffected by the distortion, because he was near the center of the shot, and the effect itself radiates out from the center.

Thanks, Joggly. I'm going to post some abstracts, for a while; I've done a fair amount of abstract landscapes and architecture photos, over the years, and even some abstract portrait photography, too. I've already been experimenting -- for several weeks -- with surfing images (which I consider to be a form of genuine portrait photography, in any case...for my own purposes), and I have a few dozen images with which I feel that I'm now comfortable enough with their outcome, at least, to go ahead and post them.
