What I see in this photo is a perfect explanation of surfing in Ireland. They think they are superior in the surfing world because they get swell, which is true they do get plenty of swell; however it is extremely rare that you see a picture of an actual lined up wave. You will see the OCCASIONAL picture of Lahinch with a SEMI decent line up but notice how often someone is on it... very rarely. Most of the time you see these mutant slabs that no one has the kahunas to surf (like this picture). But they still love posting the photos thinking that they can trick the world into thinking Ireland is as good as it gets.

kelly slater is a freak of nature and would be just as good if he were born in switzerland or some other landlocked country. i dont think the irish boys are saying their waves are the best in the world, but their making the best of what they've got, and you cant ask for more than that.

Don't know why you bother humoring him, he probably gets a semi from your replies. If he is that jealous that you get cracking waves and you have the dedication to surf them in the weather you have, it real is his problem. Take his anti British/Irish, petty, little man-comments with a total lack of originality for what they are, come on Irish would you waste valuable Guinness drinking time doing the same? Don't think so no need Surf, drink and have a good Xmas, Oh dear broke my first rule guess he's had his money shot now, and its back down to half that inch.

You have obviously never been surfing in Ireland. We don't claim to have the best waves in the world (I think its between Peahi and Tahiti) but we definitely have some pretty fucking decent ones if you havent been looking at this picture. We DO have good surfers aswell if you haven't read the article about Prowlers or Aileen's wave. So get your facts right dude.

Have you seen any of Fergal Smiths videos? Those Irish boys have major cojones. They can't shape their coastline, but they work very well with what they've got. I don't get the pompous vibe from them that you seem to be sore about. Maybe you're hanging out with the wrong lads?
