Slycat bait Jan 25, 2011 Rating: 0
Surprisingly, this spot does not appear to be over run by snobby americans trying to 'live the dream'
luke sullivan Jan 29, 2011 Rating: 1
yeah but it's good to see some "healthy"carnage from time to time...it breaks the monotony when it's good.everyone loves watching people eat it!
mantis Jan 29, 2011 Rating: 2
mr Lux mate, you shouldnt tell a skinny little dude like slycat fresh from ankle snappers to go surfing here. that wave would snap skinny dude then drown him. like dirty harry says, "A mans got to know his limitations"
luke sullivan Jan 26, 2011 Rating: 0
hey slycat, your're right.this spot isn't over-run by anyone and the camp(secret sumatra.com)that sits on it's doorstep is a quality set up that caters for keen surfers of all varieties. There's awesome waves all up and down this region and the crew that run this place will get you amongst it with ease.I have been to many surf camp setups and rate this camp very highly for quality and value for money. Its a fair slog to get to it but it's worth it!

but only mind surf it for 2 seconds cos thats how long the wave is... nice shot tho
bali_trader Jan 22, 2011 Rating: 1
Backdoor the s**t out of that! What a perfect set up...... And only a 45minute flight from my city of residence. No prizes for guessing where im headed next week.
swwl Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
Taking the right means going uphill which makes the ride longer + the barrel wider! the left however ....
groundsweller Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 3
Fuggit! Just tilt your head a little bit and the "straight horizon issue" is moot. The photo definitely provides inspiration and nostalgia to any surfer who has ever enjoyed nice glassy overhead tropical perfection.....and yes, we want more thank you.

Hey its a great shot...nice wave etc but serioulsly as humans we like things to be level, straight, perpedicular etc....if it was level I would consider framing a pic like this and putting on my wall, but its not, so I never will...and I suspect neither would most people...just my opinion.
Sunspot Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 3
hey Oriel, you sure you're not German.., straight lines, level, vertical, perpedicular, horizontal, correct spelling, anal, uptight, boxed, squared away, blinkered, ordered and perfect? No offence to any German folk (some of my best friends are German) and I'd rather not mention the war BUT, that is why you lost, 'cause you had trouble thinking out of the box and we knew it. Anyway, all this time and space wasting going on with needless comments about unimportant things, it was quite recently discovered that the universe is in all likelihood finite, so there is limited space in our world, including the virtual electronic world, so very long and meaningless messages are going to have to be reigned in. The world is imperfect. Without imperfections there would be no tides, no seasons, no storms and no waves. In fact, we wouldn't exist at all if it weren't for chaos. 3 cheers for chaos then.., and sloping horizons, and one breast bigger than the other, and other imperfect stuff. Just my opinion.

Just to be sure there tjo...you ARE still mocking Oriel, right? Ariel? The Little Mermaid?...Ohhhh I get it now...Whew...Just making sure...you had me worried there for a moment.
tjo Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
dude, this picture is so crooked i just cancelled my trip to sumatra. i'm going to tuck my junk and look in the mirror instead, and everybody else will too!

Someone much wittier than me said: "Don't trust anybody who'd rather be grammatically correct than have a good time". Substitute grammar for straight-horizon-spotters, and go have fun.
superbust Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
ah dude! its so uneven! I wont even put it as my computer desktop background and I doubt anyone else will.
Armchair expert Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 2
the fact it isn't level or symmetrical adds dimensions to the picture, especially coupled with the fence sloping in the opposite direction. It's brilliant bra
appleZac Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 5
you're missing the point dude. look at the wave, not the endless checklist of why a picture isn't perfect... id much rather have a snap of a moment of magic than a measured out stage. just my opinion ;)
Piran`s Pickled Pants Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 3
You`ll be pleased to hear Mr Lux, that the background is still not straight, hooray for not selling out, high fiiiive!
luke sullivan Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
hey PPP enough with the spirit level! and Yak don't paddle out too far ya bound to fall off!
yak Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 0
I thought this argument had been won several centuries ago. No the horizon is not straight. This is because the world is not flat...
luke sullivan Jan 21, 2011 Rating: -1
hey the horizon's straight, does this mean it's overlooked by those with a keen eye for art or have I sold out?
luke sullivan Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
hey slackerdude, yer right.just crooked enough to get some bites and any framer could correct the tilt when framing it.I know,I am a framer and have framed this print a few times already and it looks sweet as!
slackerdude Jan 21, 2011 Rating: 1
I don't know man. I got out my level and it looks like you might be off by about .03 degrees...
