Heading back from Santa Barbara I came around the bend and it was going off. I stopped down the beach about 1/3 of a mile snapped a couple shots.

i think it's an ok photo... i wonder if you shot it hand-helding given the composition (i am guessing you are bringing the attention to the surfer going from the right wall towards the left of the picture); traded the light from the surfer to the wave but i don't think you had much choice there-- seems like something taken with a pocket camera in the spur of the moment... ... before i wrote the above i had a look at your photos and i think the shot is a bit reckless compared to the rest of your work-- the darkened subject worked well in at least one of your other photos, but not on this one-- an ok photo that lacks a bit your style
