Empty and almost perfect: This is NOT Sanur, a small wave that only works a few times a year. Good only for spongers, shore break and damned fast.

Thanks for all the comments. This wave is normally a beach break but in the one set I was in just the right spot to get this. It was rare to see this particular wave rear its head in the few sessions I made at the spot. The sky looks less tropical as I had passed a slight desaturation over it after bumping the shadows some more. The day had clouds a plenty so trying what I can with my limited photoshop skills to show off this moment. One local surfer did come over to check it out but the shore break was big and pretty heavy, he got nailed twice in three attempts and left the water. The buddy I was shooting this with lives a few minutes away, he's seen so many local sticks busted along with failed rides which is why I mentioned the best suited to Boogy boarders line. I have another shot in my Photo's where I'm inside the shore break as that was the images that I was after on this particular day, I guess I just lucked out when this one came along! Cheers, Mark liquidmocean

At a guess, I'd say it was rather shallow too!!!

Thanks for the comments. This is not Sanur though, a secret spot, would have thought they would have that option in the image posting drop down menu. This wave is definitely for spongers only, I've seen two very accomplished surfers try it only to leave with their tails dangling a few minutes later. This particular wave was an absolute freak. The post production makes it look cooler but it was actually a cracking hot day in Bali, check the profile for more images from this session. You'll see it is definitely a shore breaking nut cracker. Cheers.

@sunspot you silly sausage. i'm not saying i was looking through pictures of fistral just to find fistral. And I was only using fistral as an example. Obviously the subject at hand is secret spots submitted under other, known spots. Come on, get that hamster in your head to use its wheel once in a while, "bro"! (it's not so sad when a goofyfooter stuck in Leeds is able to find a reeling left point all to himself)

you could have all the secret spot photos in one gallery but just not have a button to take you too it so people cant find it too easily

I don't think you should have a general section for secret spots, certainly not if you want to prevent all secret spots being known by absolutely everyone. Firstly it will be too too easy for anyone to go through every photo in the section and line up backgrounds with other photos and google earth and whatnot to find out where the location of many of the photos are (I have done this lots, but have at least had to go through hudreds of pictures of fistral and the likes in order to find them!). Secondly think of all the people who will just tell everyone in a comment where the spot is. Thirdly think of all the people who will submit a photo in order to tell everyone where it is. This is all coming from someone who has barely surfed any "secret" spots but loves to trawl the web in order to find out where they all are!

An option for a secret spot? How would that work do you think? All secret photos in one spot?

dude... he said 'GOOD only for spongers'. prob meant that spongers would get more fun out of it as it was more suited to that style of riding. dont get so touchy. he wasnt saying that stand up weren't good enough to ride it.

not a drop out of place. had i not known it was Bali i would have guessed some icy location like alaska. On windless days, these coldwater locations have a tendency to produce navy blue, mechanical crispness as such.
