THIS WAS THE MONSTER TIDAL WAVE EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT. THE BUILDINGS AND LAND IN THE BACKGROUND GOT COMPLETELY WIPED OUT!!

You guys really over-estimate how often the photogs really get smashed. In this picture, he is probably already under the wave or most of his body is and just the camera is in the hollow part. Not every good barrel shot ends in the photog eating sand/reef.
