Short board taking a long drop at Dungeons ... (Canon S3)

Dungeons a great location for tow-in surfing. Yes, there are a handful of dedicated locals who paddle into big sets, I was one of them. Not on this occasion though. The wave is just to big... notice the size of his stick, definitely strapped in. Kaapstad is lekker!

The point of the Gun is to catch Big Waves . With tow in catching isnt an issue so the boards can be much shorter

this wave is awsome :)

ratbag, you talk shit!

That board is no longer than 6'6". Shayne Horan is riding 6'2" plugs on these size waves. With the experimentation going into new designs the days of the gun are nearly over.

Awesome shot of an awesome, heavy, cold wave. I`ll stick to 4ft shories thank you very much.

just curious, i know everyone is babbling about the size of the board and what not, but how would a SUP hold up in this situation...just out of curiousity!!

Interesting if not rather futile question. It would really depend who was on it. Laird - would probably head for the barrel, and make it look easy. You and I would probably have got into that position purely by accident and live/ or not, to regret it!

Surf seeker Sep 4, 2008 Rating: 2

I think that's not paddle in. His board looks really too short for that. I'm not sure but I think we can see some straps. However, that's a huge one! All my respect!!

No way thats paddle in! He got towed for sure, that board looks like 6,2 with a bat-tail. You can check the straps and the life vest. Sick wave though, that thing is going to heeave! Hope he pulls in cause thats going to open up into one giant town hall of a green room.

I don't know man, Dungeons is known for the crazy paddle in. Either way, this guy has more balls than I do.
AllCocknRibs Sep 1, 2008 Rating: 2
bergie - You been at the meths bra? Not that towing in to that ravening beast in any way diminishes the sheer ballas of that very composed guy. Respek ek se!
