Folly is the best spot clowns! The washout is the best spot in SC!!! Everyone should surf there.....every f*cking day!....if you dont surf there you are a total kook!!! I think everyone from Fenandina to Wrightsville should travel to the washout to catch waves.....tell them sqirl sent you and they are guaranteed to give you priority! Dont forget to stop by Berts Market and shit up the bathroom!

as far as the best break in **charleston** is concerned, neither is anywhere near folly beach. i've only been surfing here for under 4 years but know enough about waves and have been blessed with a friend who has a boat for long enough to tell you that the washout, though faster and beefier than most other places, is highly overrated. if you have a boat, i suggest you consider the islands just north of IOP. If you have the patience and the ambition, you can find a break thats bigger and better than the washout with longer lines in any swell condition. I surfed stomach to chest high waves with 50 meter lines two fridays (maybe three i cant remember) when surfline said the washout what thigh high. we went out just to explore it and see when it WOULD break when some groundswell came through but we surprised to find that it was going off compared to anywhere else near the peninsula. explore and you will be rewarded. oh and that wave cannot be folly haha no way

hey, man if you have a boat and enough time to go find a spot like that, why don't you just go to the outer banks? lol.

Folly is my hometown beach. Now, why would this guy be telling fibs about where this photo was taken? He wouldn't. It's not like we Folly surfers have a campaign to try and advertise Folly as a surfing mecca with beautiful waves like this all the time, in order to bring more tourist to town. Plus, Folly beach underwent a major change during Hurricane Hugo and has never been the same since. The breaks have changed. At least that's how the story is told. If you are like me and around the age of 23 or so, then you were 4 years old during Hugo and wouldn't know what the waves were even like in those days. To date, when mother nature has decided to bless us with the correct alignment of conditions, we have our epic days.

thats not even the color of the water at Folly. Folly's water is like poop brown especially when huge

i am going to have to disagree with you K-mart14. Washout and Bert's are the two best breaks. When Berts break on a NE swell and NE wind, it goes off!!! Always head high spitting barrels :)

The washout is not the best spot in SC! anyone who tells you it is, is lying and or a kook! That pic is NOT folly and nor will that ever be folly! Folly is an ok surf break that takes a lot of swell to be good, but not too much because then it won't break. Period can't be too long and size can't be too big.

what do you think is the best break in SC? if the washout isn't it then what is? I like certain places on IOP cause it provides for a longer ride than anywhere on folly at high tide. for the record anyone with a head on their shoulders know that one photo of the north shore is not folly. the water color is completely wrong, so is the date and time.
