Carving a 'shortie' or gliding a 'longie' are both awesome, N Devon is perfect for both on its day. I wouldn’t call 3ft 100m rides last saturday at Saunton windchop. I hope ‘locals rule’ sticks to his dickish name and keeps his ‘dinging’ well away from it. And before you go bashing longboards, just remember they were developed by the Hawaiians, the daddies of surfing, whereas shortboards were developed by yanks who also invented Bud, Disneyland and Sunny Delight. I've surfed Croyde/Saunton/Woolacombe quite a bit and I found it's never as good as it looks. It's colder than Cornwall and the power only seems to come just as it closes out. When I was at uni I would go from Exeter to Croyde 2-3 times a week and just got pissed off with it. It was better to head home to Gwithian or Porthtowan and have a decent wave
