Tyler made this no worries - there are a few locals (Ty, James H-Cross and Marti P) who get themselves in the zone on a regular basis. Many others surf Shippies but don't have it as wired as these guys. Not to be taken lightly.

Does anyone actually make these waves? I'd love to see a linky to some vid that shows what the ride look like. Im guessing it pitches and dies pretty fast but would be interesting to see what a succesful ride looks like. My guess its a bit like avoiding getting mugged.

Damn, that is AT LEAST 15ft, and 7ft of it is lip. (But it can be a 20ft easily, with a 10ft lip.) Teahupoo might be heavier, but this place is a lot scarier and way harder to surf. I'd surf a teahupoo wave before I surf that.

How do you know he's strapped on this wave??? You can't tell v- Tyler paddles and tows and has surfed the biggest wave @ shipstern......Towners was ok but nowhere near the heaviest -not by a looooong stretch.
