The only reason I believe this is mavericks is the lack of jetskis. The mavericks surfers are hard core and I have never seen any other photo of people paddling into waves as big.

on a wave that big you dont even try and duckdive, you push your board to the side, take a deep breath and swim down!! then wen you've stopped being thrown about so much (you may be 5 or 30 feet from the surface by now) you pull yourself up on your leash, (if that still has a board on the end of it) and you just generally struggle to paddle to the surface befor the next fucker comes to break on you. The End.
