Agree with Billyofthesouth, respect and support the locals, but welcome the tourist... you can scare them though, maybe with sharks tales and stuff... but only as part of the mystic of such a place like SA

Oven1 and OzMan - if you're going to get mad, get mad at the likes of Mark Warren & Nat Young for including 'your' spots in their surf atlases. 'Locals only' my arse. Places like this are in the middle of nowhere, they will NEVER get crowded. I assume that you guys have travelled beyond your home breaks - if everyone had the same closed minded attitude that you do, the world would be a very shitty place. YES show respect to the locals, wherever you surf, but don't let dipshits that think they own the waves spoil your fun. Spare a thought for those living on the Gold Coast or Sydney and have to battle through hundreds of people every session just to catch a wave. Surfers in SA have it so good, drop the negative vibe.
