that is typical s-turns and photos can be decieving, s-turns can get as good as most beachbreaks in the world, unfortunately the outer banks closes out a lot, it breaks really fast and is most of the time a crash barrel, don't get me wrong though if you live here you will get good, no reason to travel to surf here, you will 9 times out of 10 get skunked, it's windy shifty windswell with very minor traces of groundswell, usually doubled up funky and junky save your money travel else where

I agree.. enough of the West Coast bullshit.. I have traveled both coasts and went to school in Hawaii (lived there 2 years)... the East Coast(where I was born and live) has as good of waves as any spot.. if you want to surf good wave here you have to be more educated and know where to be and when to be there.. I swear the hype in Cali about everything is F**kin redic. your all in LaLa land.

grandma lips, you suck juicy co*k. all you spew is hate and shit. you are a disgrace to the surfing community (and to humans). I doubt you even surf. I grew up in carlsbad (on tamarack ave) and also o'side. you dont speak for west coast cali surfers. you speak for idiots. end of
chenson Feb 23, 2009 Rating: 19
oh grandma, dont mention trestles and HB in the same sentance. Blacks, Swamis or Newbs but not HB. This OBX bump is as good as any you’ll ever get in Huntington.
Grandma Lips Feb 23, 2009 Rating: -5
jesus fucking christ....South carolina is NOT the surfing mecca of the worlds s-turn is no exception, hello CALIFORNIA HB peir (the real surf city), trestles, O-side you got some waves dont get me wrong but dont you ever call SC a surf mecca
wavemechanics Apr 14, 2009 Rating: -1

treywillis Apr 4, 2009 Rating: 1
I hear yea on that man. There is nothing like a perfect swell in Hatteras with light offshore winds. Its one of my favorite places to surf in the world. And its a lot more heavier then what it looks like. Got to love the OBX.

a surfing meca of the world.
surfperu72 Feb 22, 2009 Rating: -5
Why is it that some west coast surfers are surprised by these kind of quality waves on the east coast,if you knew anything about surfing you would not be shocked at all especially obx quality. I have lived on the obx and cali and Peru and some of the best waves have been on the obx.

nutgraphics Feb 20, 2009 Rating: 17
Man is he in deep. The water is quite murky though. Is this break on a mud-flat, or the remnants of a Cyclone swell. Beautiful shot.
MantaWave Mar 27, 2009 Rating: 0
The clarity of the water in that shot's not bad, actually. it gets beautiful clear green when the Gulf Stream moves in, but murky is the norm (at least from Virginia Beach to Hatteras) Tons of sediment (hopefully non-toxic?) around these parts. ..by the way, that is as good as it gets on the East Coast. ...and that happens maybe twice a year.
Archy Feb 23, 2009 Rating: 0
haha, its like riding in chocolate milk in england, except that milk's far from drinkable, its gone off and its been in the fridge WAYYYY too long so is constantly giving you ice cream headaches!
Slim_Richie Feb 22, 2009 Rating: -2
and if you think thats chocolatey check this out http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=26594 its even further up the north east coast
adamUK Feb 20, 2009 Rating: 14

broadside Feb 20, 2009 Rating: 1
