dendrum's photo of Bournemouth

Boscombe Reef and its wave, taken by me from deep looking to shore. Is the wave supposed to be travelling this way? Genuine true photo, not modified.

I don't think so sneakybadger.., when it has been 'working' it's been absolute slop. The true test will come one day (some time maybe) when the swell coming from true south and substantial, in which case it'll probably get washed away or something. I aint holding my breath. Surf down here is mediocre at best. That wave there just about sums it up. Directionless, meagre, weak and tiny. Probably the wake of a passing speed boat.

about two or three weeks ago, blue o'clock in the morning (still dark), myself and one other out, offshore, 2 with the occasional 3 on the wedge, swell lasted for about an hour and a half before it started to die, was the day that guy died at kimmo. true south....lol

I don't think so sneakybadger.., when it has been 'working' it's been absolute slop. The true test will come one day (some time maybe) when the swell is northerly and substantial, in which case it'll probably get washed away or something. I aint holding my breath. Surf down here is mediocre at best. That wave there just about sums it up. Directionless, meagre, weak and tiny. Probably there as a result of a passing jetski.

the wave is clearly traveling perpendicular to the shore so the swell direction could be west or east therefore the wave would break on the reef and wrap around creating the impression it is travelling towards shore. so shhh...

im no expert but the wave would travel in the direction the swell came from doesnt make too much difference where the shore is because the reef is offshore

Rick Waller might have been dog walking along the shore, spotted a half eaten discarded doughnut, tried to beat the dog to it and fallen in causing ocean madness
