HenryG, I think you will find it was the title of your photo that got the ball rolling rather than the actual shot itself…...im going to name your local secret spot now, Llanfairfechan!

and now, we're all over it like a rash - I know this place breaks rarely but sure is a fantastic place to do some of this wonderful milarky we all love and call surfing!! I sure am glad to be surfing in this day and age - everyone is so friendly!! YIPEE!! See you in there with my BIC - I'll be the one with the blue stripe down the side: its a great board, I love it to pieces: never breaks whenever I hit the rocks repeatedly, stack it or twat other surfers with it accidentally as I drop in! ACE.

Look this was a social experiment putting this photo on here, actually started as a wind up to see who would claim they knew where it was. I think Philshoz probably recognises it. As for the rest of you look it up 43d47'41N 1d24'55W. Just goes to show that you can put a photo of a featureless patch of ocean, that could be anywhere, on the web and people will claim you're blowing the lid on their secret. Hey guys there are secret spots out there you know, just because there are no photo's on the internet doesn't mean they don't exist. And if there are no giveaway visual references in the picture who gives a toss if they are on the web anyway? Like i have proved one featureless patch of ocean can appear to be anywhere you imagine it to be.

I would like to comment and clarify, my name is Henry and I frequently surf the isle and the lleyn. Please do not confuse me with the henry who posts pics of secret spots and provide me with resultant banter in the water. Very poor form on behalf of Henry G. Must be said though this day was special across the west.

Hi everyone, thinking of making a trip to Wales later this year, is this fairly consistent and typical of the area? Does it get crowded and how are the locals? Thanks..................

Hi everyone, thinking of making a trip to Wales later this year, is this fairly consistent and typical of the area? Does it get crowded and how are the locals? Thanks.................. Oh yes phillip, we get waves all the time up here, rights, lefts (I think real surfers call them right handers and left handers?) though I would'nt know yet - I'm still learning lots and lots about this fantastic 'lifestyle' sorry, 'religion', oh my bad its a 'sport' isn't it? Do I score brownie points for saying this? Anyway, come and join the Bangor Uni club - we love exploring everywhere based on photos we see on magicseaweed and a really spiffing website called wannasurf - we like to put up all the information we find out about some of the more 'secret' spots on these websites and share it with everyone: the locals are really lovely people, very very friendly - never angry if you drop it or nearly kill them by running them over (which we accidentally do many MANY times - teehee: sorry guys!), the crowds are'nt an issue: everyone shares waves and theres never any hassling for position or twats dropping in on you, or paddling in front of you to gain priority (I think gnarly surfers call this 'snaking'?). Theres a wonderful relationship between the students and the locals - we turn up with coachloads and they share smiles and funny anecdotes with us. The waves are brilliant - often a good size - like double over head (or 18ft) which is great as so few people know about surfing in north wales - oh, apart from the scouse, manchurians, residents of llandudno, colwyn bay, rhyl, and anglesey, oh and of course - the biggest population is students - especially the lovely peeps (I love this surf word) from Bangor Uni - we're the bestest!!! So yes, come to north wales - theres plenty of waves for you old chum! Is South France not treating ya so well?

3 coach loads of all my bestest bum chum old boys students are now on their way down to all the secret spots now as we speak! Can't wait to see everyone in the water!! We're gonna have the bestest time of our lives! I love running people over and dropping in: these gnarly north welsh surfer dudes sure are great guys! I'm glad theyre nothing like some of the localist scenes elsewhere in the country...

I'm glad you had a good session Gruff, I'm thinking of getting a bus full of students down there next time it's going off. I think the atmosphere in the water would be much better with more people, it's a bit dull with just the hardcore local hotshots. It'd be nice to have some people in the water who are bigger kooks than I am so i can show off (i can stand up now you know(sometimes)) . I might invite the canoe club as well I think a load of goat boats would make the place..well...more colourful.

Nice one! Cheers matey! Was a great session there the other day, you know surfers aren't as bad as everyone says. There was this one wave (it was MASSIVE) I started paddling for it way before everyone else (coz I was on a BIC and it takes a while to get up to speed) but without realising I'd dropped in on one of the locals - "SHIT" I thought, what do I do?! So I did like all of my Bangor Uni chums taught me to do and I shouted "PARTY WAVE!" Well anyway, he wasn't quite as good as your are Henry, and didn't know how to share the wave, he came straight at me! Luckily My BIC's dead big and stable and he just pinged off me into the white water and got dragged onto the rocks. He was ok about it though...next thing I see he's there, standing on the cliff (holding each half of his board) calling me onto waves! With his fist in the air like he really wanted a beginner like me to get the most from my day. Such kindness!

Ha ha, you're such a bunch of idiots. I can guarantee not one of you knows where this is, honestly guarantee it. Maybe if you go and find it then you can come back and tell me to stop taking photo's of YOUR sacred spot. Answers on a postcard please. If you know the spot, you'll recognise the pic, if you don't know it already, you won't. Same as any shot where there is just a wave and sea in the background. Wannasurf are the people you should be having a go at as on there, there are probably shots of the wave, instructions on how to get there and how to surf it

henryg's avatar

henryg Feb 12, 2010 Rating: -1

I'm not removing the photo. YI don't think you know where this is so don't pretend you do. The guy in the photo is my friend and he has surfed this spot on his own for the most part for the last 10 years. I've never heard your name before and rarely ever seen anyone else there at all so i assume you are not local to the spot, so why pretend you are?

kieranjames's avatar

kieranjames Feb 12, 2010 Rating: 1

The difference is obvious, people used to look on their own account for waves. No prob, you find you surf no prob, YOU FIND YOU PUBLICISE!!!! That's the problem, there should be no pictures of this place anywhere on the net. You obviously dont surf there much (or we'd know you) and therefore you don't have the right to advertise it as if you do. I've asked you nicely to remove the photo, please do so, out of respect for the people who surf here regularly and deserve to have this place kept as its always been, (in your own words) a gem. not another overcrowded spot, like those you yourself mentioned. thanks

henryg's avatar

henryg Feb 12, 2010 Rating: -1

What difference does it make? There are no clues as to where this is from the photo but it might inspire some to get out and have a look away from the already overcrowded waves that are well known.

kieranjames's avatar

kieranjames Feb 12, 2010 Rating: 1

why do people have to take photos of special places? can't you be content to surf it and keep it under your hat? There is no need to further publicise low key/ secret spots. And if you are choosing not to surf them, then you most certainlly shouldn't be taking photos of them. Have some cop-on

sorry but what? What the hell is there in this picture to even suggest that its a secret and not a hells mouth wave? If you didnt open your trap in the first place then anyone who didnt know would'nt be able to tell. Idiot.

look i agree with kerian and kernow(wannasurf are wankers)... you admitted your mate surfs it.. therefore you dont! so instead of brickin it and taking photos get your suit on grow a pair of bollocks n get out! dont go bragging about how good it was. yeh we were all there and saw it ourselves we dont need everyone else to see the photos! if you are a surfer you will understand no one likes a crowded break! dont ruin it for anyone else.. everyone aint happy with you henry-G should be henryK... k for kook! everyone cant wait to here someone shout henryg in the line up!!
