I have set up my Facebook fan page! Become a fan today. I'm trying to reach out to as many people as I can reach on these sites. If you post up a link for all your friends to possibly become fans too....I'd be such a fan of you! Aloha, Tyler http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carpe-Wave-Photography/112581748760545?ref=mf

Thanks dangalow! I try to keep advice on the down low because if I'm out here on public sites throwing out trade secrets of the pros, then people will feel like I am jeopardizing their profession. It's the same philosophy I keep for secret spots....I am welcomed in these spots, but if I reveal them, I have broken the trust of the locals there. My goal is to stay on people's good side and continue to be welcomed on both sides of the industry: both public and secret areas. But, for a simple suggestion like spit, every human should be privy to that knowledge in my opinion. I mean, come on, everyone is a spit factory. It's free! I also thought that since it was on my profile page, less people will be seeing it anyways. haha. Thanks so much for the comment and support. Words like these are so encouraging for me to stay behind the camera instead of on the body board. haha. I'd love to get some shots in mags. Maybe someone will see some of my shots and want to use them. I've just been building my experience and portfolio over the last 5 years or so when it comes to surf photography. I'm gonna set up a Face Book page for my photography eventually. I want to get the photos up on here since this is a spot where I can sell them to the masses potentially. I just have to find a way to get people interested in buying some! haha

Carpe....ur approach to photography is like no other...some may have similar inside green room shots, but urs have more artistic feel....It's good to reinvent and originate, and I know u will...Can't wait to get my sh*t together so I can ask u for advice...like the spit advice on your page to keep water off, I did the same when I use to snorkel alot in Spain with my masks....spit does the job for clarity and fog also! but little details like that and ur hard work have obviously paid off because these shots are of another quality that is not similar and rare on MSW!!!! U are my favorite of all photogs at the moment, and when S badger said legendary, ur defo on ur way....any in magazines? BTW pg.28 in Surfer, May issue has a sweet wedge line up shot in Brazil..it's insane!!!!

Only problem with lineup shots is: they reveal the spot. So many of my lineup photos are of spots that I don't want to reveal. Just look at the reactions of all those Irish fellas to the movies and photos that have been going up about Irish surfing. I don't want to cause that. Don't get me wrong, I sure do appreciate all that footage. Mick is an amazing waterman/artist! I want to go to Ireland so bad now! That's why places on the North Shore are so sweet. You can reveal the name, the coastline, everything about them is encouraged to be remembered. Most of my underwater shots are at secret spots because I can still get a decent shot without pissing anyone off....and it keeps my surf sessions less crowded! This one is Pipe though.

Also, I've noticed that I have very high rankings and then one person's rankings later, they drop significantly. I suspect often that I am a victim of the "1" ranker but I think anyone who's photos are on the home page, will suffer that same fate.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It all revolves around views and rankings. I gotta figure out how to get more views and comments. I have noticed that people really really like the lineup shots. Maybe I should take some land shots? Hmmm.
