Cool Pic. Being born in Southend I know that it is a popular kite surfing and wind surfing destination. This is probably why it is on the site. There is no surf... repeat no surf in Southend.

Southend's a great kite surfing spot and there is a small SUP scene emerging. Perhaps it's most relevant for those guys... Really strong currents and a long walk over the mud if you get caught out

please dont make any kind of journey to this 'magic' surf spot, we live in an estuary and the waves have never been big enough to ride in the 46 years ive lived here. why do you think i chug down to newquay 6 times a year, every year? still, southends lovely if you like a paddle!

Has anyone, ever, actually had a "proper" surf in southend? by proper i mean at least head high (standup)waves, ridden on a sponge or surfboard, with a face on the wave at least 10m long (as an absolute minimum). If so, i lay down the gauntlet - PROVIDE PROOF OR I WILL PETITION TO HAVE THIS JOKE OF SPOT PERMANENTLY REMOVED!!

b*ll*cks! If you have ever "surfed" at southend pier, it would consist of hours of cold, fruitless paddling around in a howling gale, with no discernable waves. This is weak, unfunny joke.

whoa, what a wave... better wax up my fingerboard. this realy does beg the question; wtf is this spot doing on this site? is it a diversion tactic?
