This is kinda old now.. still want to know what the size of the wave is not how you predict it or generate it. No one ever wants to put a number on it! Saying that its pretty hard with no one on it to measure against.

that's gotta be a 14-16 face at least, probably 18, so the forecast looks right

I've seen one guy take an hour to paddle out in similar conditions. Mere mortals watch the pros and heroes and head for something a bit more makeable ( and less scary) down at La Punta.

I hate this whole measuring waves thing! To me thats got a 15ft - 20ft face hasn't it? I'm not questioning the swell prediction. I'm just asking what people would say this wave was. My mate would say 5ft!

It's the period that gives the size. Long period with a half decent wave size, and you're in trouble. Measure the front of the wave, thats the bit you surf on.

i got a lot of blind and innumerate friends that see a 6 foot wave and they say it 2 to 3 foot

This is the only problem with puerto, It looks so perfect and makable in photos, then you fly there and hit the shore to finally realize, 'AHH thats why no ones out" So big and loud it will wake you up at 3am. RESPECT!

seems like the only Pacific ocean is the one closest to me, its definitely not this one where Peurto is.... and Mavs and Todos and Hawaii is

swell height =/= wave height bro... a swell of 7ft @ 18 seconds is gonna get jacked the F up when it reaches shallow water

An average of 7ft at 18 seconds into the offshore trench here will look ... exactly like that. Wave partitions have two numbers (on msw) and even then they are an average so in that mix you have one or two percent that will be 1/2 as big again as the headline average.
