Nice photo...and potentially educational to the unenlightened. Lesson: respect the man in the slot. Junior on the shoulder at least had the common sense and decency to look before making the wise decision to pull back and not drop in(at least that's what we all hope. Nigel may be cutting it a bit close while paddling out, but it's hard to tell. Safer would have been to wait a couple seconds more inside of the impact zone, let the surfer pass, duck dive the white water and then paddle out. In doing so, he might have been able to drift a bit more out of the takeoff zone and further away from oncoming surfers. Respect, be safe, and have fun.
