I think he has done enough other good stuff to be forgiven for that one. Everyone has to make a living.
Whilst the comments below about 'The Drifter' are noted, having followed surfing on and off through my surfing life over the last 20 years or so, Rob Machado, to me, remains a true standout legend and inspiration in surfing to the day. Despite being in the shadow of Kelly on the tour in the nineties, their friendly rivalry was the first that made the tour interesting to me and I was always for Machado's loose and easy style, which always was perhaps, more suited to freesurfing anyway. Perhaps its an age generation thing, but it always cheers me up to see him pop up on the radar here and there. Nice reflections. Stay in sight.
I remember this French surfer who was just too good for everything. He had a habit of blowing his fringe out of his eyes with an arrogant pffft from pursed lips and a slight flick of the head. To be fair to him, he was a good surfer, but his company was appalling.
If I ever reached the stage where everything started going so wrong that I decided I had had enough of life, I would go and surf this wave on the basis that if I died I would have nothing to lose, and if I survived I would come out with a completely fresh perspective.
No, just no, oh well, go on then.
He's not claiming. He's thinking about putting his right hand in the wave while his left arm is streamlining.
It is interesting that people happily use the 'exposure' argument to 'act like an arsehole' towards future visitors of sensitive surf spots. If you act like an arsehole in the water, regardless of what you believe your justification to be, you probably are one.

Yo Papa, dont know if you remember me but i havent been around for a while. Just so you know I have nothing against bodyboarders or anyone else for that matter, was just winding up dudette, and a few others who are wound too tightly by the looks of things. But I do agree with what you said in that post.
