Hey Carpe, were you at Makapuu on friday?
CarpeWave1240 days ago +3 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Maybe. I went out there on a crappy, small, rainy morning. If that was last Friday, then yeah. haha. I heard it's been pretty good lately!

where you in a long sleeve white rash guard and a yellow housing?
CarpeWave1239 days ago +2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I heard that Carlos from Ballistics Bodyboards got a housing and was shooting out there some recently. Maybe it was him. Was it the day that Stewart was out?

I don't know if he was out. I just got back from Hawaii and I was wondering if you were there cause I saw a water photographer with an SPL housing. I was shooting with my gopro :) Fun times in Hawaii

I just bought a new hard drive and new computer. I'm having troubles uploading my photos to the POD system. I go through the whole process and then the screen freezes up. It did it on my old iMac and it does it on my brand new iMac. I used to think it was my computer but now I know it isn't. I've uploaded photos, but when I go to click on it in the system it says "photo cannot be found." Do you have facebook? I have no troubles uploading my photos there. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carpe-Wave-Photography/112581748760545?ref=mf

Great photos Carpe, just seen the “1st swell of the North shore season. Shore break bomb from hell.” How did you come out of that in one piece!! If you ever think about setting up a great Website showcase I'd love to help out! It would be an Awesome collection. Keep up the great work.
CarpeWave1296 days ago Unrated Rate Positive Rate Negative
Thanks MrPuzzle. I'm working with someone right now on building my website. I didn't get hurt that day (knocking on wood). I do my best to avoid going over the falls when it is right on shore. I certainly do get tumbled and smacked every session though. I kinda enjoy it though. Therapeutic workings.

Carpe, perhaps you could get a poll going on here or speak to MSW team to see if there is a genuine interest in the calendars and sell them through the site. I will buy one as long as they aren't insultingly expensive. Plus I would rather help 'the little guy' than give my money to large corporations. p.s. I like calendars that are big enough to write stuff on each of the days ;)

CarpeWave1378 days ago Unrated Rate Positive Rate Negative
He's pissed that I took photos of his 'secret' spot, S Turns (which everyone knows about already) and then put them up on the internet. Yeah, I don't get it, but whatever. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. I just don't understand it. I shoot secret spots all the time and fully respect not exposing a spot. I did lots of research on the East Coast as I was going to be on the mainland for awhile. These were the best days while I was home. I can't believe that someone would get so worked up over shoulder high wave photos of a spot that everyone in the U.S. knows about anyways?! Everyone I met there was stoked to see a photog in the water and many of them stopped to talk to me or ask where the photos would be posted. He's been going in and negative ranking everyone that says they like the shots of S Turns. Nice. I can't even get to sleep at night because I'm so worried about it. To top it all off, go to his page and there's a photo of him surfing the same area. He's telling me to not exploit the area for my personal gain, but he has no problem someone else taking photos on a much bigger, better day. So he's cool with exploiting it for his personal gain, just not anyone else's. Here's a link to his shot. Pretty sick day! http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=128516
CarpeWave1377 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Honestly, I can relate to how he feels. I have seen a lot of secret spots out here in HI too. I am never going to name any out of respect to the locals at those spots. I also don't involve identifying landscapes in the photos in these spots. If I want to shoot there, I gotta respect those criteria for published photos. I did a lot of site research and S Turns seems to be fully known about within the surf world. I mean, I just called a local surf shop and that's where they sent me. I even asked if it was considered a 'secret' spot since I would be taking photos there. I can't apologize for publishing photos of S Turns. But, I can empathize with you over the population increase at your local spots. I am sure that a man like you has seen it go from empty, perfect spitting barrel days, to Hollywood out there. But that's what happens when there's millions of surfers in the U.S. That's not my fault one bit. It is a symptom in the water everywhere. That's why people are spending bucks to go find all these new, empty, unpolluted areas with perfect hidden slabs and whatnot. That's gotta be frustrating seeing your spot change so much.

What is RAW, is fps frames per second? because if so I am not sure but I will check it out soon. So do you think I should get a waterproof housing for my d40 or for a cheaper camera like a coolpix? Ps. Thanks for being so supportive and answering all my questions, You're a very knowledgeable person Carpe, thanks for the help!
CarpeWave1394 days ago -2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Well, I imagine that a housing for your D40 would cost you a bunch. If you don't feel like digging out your owners manual, here is a link to dpreview.com: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond40/ That's the review for the D40. The housing for an SLR is very pricey. So, if you're going to spend the money for something like that, then I'd make sure that you're putting the right camera inside. If you want to start out cheap, then a housing for a coolpix or similar camera is very cost effective and you can get great photos with it. However, you're going to miss just as many if not more of the photos because of the slow continuous shooting. I don't mind giving a little advice, but I can't continue to guide you too much further than this. As a policy, I don't really reveal this type info online. I tell people this, 'my best advice is to just get out there. If you really want anything, you'll figure it out.'

Hey Carpe, sorry to bother you again but I just had a question. I was thinking about taking my photography more seriously I was thinking about doing in water photography and out of the water. I was thinking about investing in a new camera in the near future. Right now I have a nikon d40. And a GoPro for in-water photography. Do you think I am fine with them or do you think I should invest in something better. Any suggestions? Thanks. -NY
CarpeWave1394 days ago -2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
What's the fps on your D40? The reason I went up to the D300 was for the speed. I get 7 fps I think with the added battery pack. You need to be shooting in RAW too if you're looking to sell anything. So find out what the fps in RAW mode is. Also, how many shots will it take before it HAS to write to the card? That's an important statistic too. I can shoot 18 shots in RAW mode before the buffer is full.

I have been to Hawaii once before in November of 2006 for the vans triple crown. I was checking out some surf spots on wannasurf.com So I have not really decided what spots I am going to ride at. But I know I will come up to the North Shore for a few days to see pipe and keiki. I hope to see you around. I had a friend who just moved to Hawaii and I'm going to try and see him as well.

Thanks NY! I grew up doing lots of road trips with my family, so when I get to go home, I really like to travel and make the most of it. I am already back in HI so I won't be making it up to the NE any. That's a great month for you to come to HI! You'll have a blast. Have you been before? The GoPro is awesome. If there was one thing I'd recommend to you, it'd be to read all the info they sent with it. I've noticed that a lot of people out there don't read instruction manuals and this one explains a lot about the importance of turning off the camera between videos. Use spit to keep off the water droplets. Just spit on it and then lick all the spit to coat the lens port. It looks weird, but it's free and it'll keep droplets off the entire session as long as you keep dipping it in the water to keep it wet. What are you going to be riding?

Went to the S-turns yesterday, solid stomach plus, although ur a HI boy, I know how u guys measure from the back:)I'll get some uploaded on face book, in town around Nags Head looked good also, there's this spot called the broilers where a ship sank and all u can see is the broiler above the water there...don't know what happened there but it has gone to crap, that spot was once as nice as the s-turns...I'm going back down on Tuesday and Wednesday, should be good I hope!!!!
CarpeWave1402 days ago +2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I could go for some waves right now! Sandbars are wonderful places to learn. In my opinion, it's a faster learning curve on sandbars than on reefs. The waves break so much faster when they are barreling and that demands good riding and great wave reading. I'd still prefer a 5-8 foot slabbing sandbar over a crowded reef any day. I guess the trouble lies that unless you are year-round consistent spot like OBX, you're getting limited large swells each year. How do you keep your paddling muscles in shape enough to be ready for that killer swell when it comes? How do you train to be duck diving those waves and dealing with that current when the conditions don't exist to train on? The worst currents I've ever been in have been on sandbars. The big sessions spread out keeps that learning curve even more difficult. I hear people say 'It's not Hawaii or anything but.....' Well, honestly, I would think that surfers from anywhere would love to surf perfect, spitting sandbars if they had access to them. If you can score conditions like that all to yourself and your buddies, then those are the days that would stick out as lifelong most-memorable sessions in any surfer's mind. I was just in the water yesterday telling a buddy I hadn't seen in a long time about S Turns and he interrupted me and said 'I got the best wave of my entire life at S Turns. No joke.' He went on to tell me he's seen days where the angle was perfect and there were 5 makable barrel sections on one wave. Sounds like paradise to me! haha
dangalow1401 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
That feels so good to hear man especially from my fav photog, because I've been a couple of places, and u nailed it right there(best wave I've ever rode, makeable slotted sections)! It's my paradise, and when I was a teen, no one knew of this place except the locals, and the Va.B kids, but know it's gained popularity on mass, @times, I just hit Nagshead because that extra 45 mins to the Island can turn into 2 hours when the tourist traffics bad, so the crowds are 50/50, but most people had no idea that the s-turns were on fire, and would always go to the lighthouse(really good there also)but now a days, that's now the spot to go, but u seen the island, so many miles of beach and completely empty. How was ur research? That place has serious erosion probs. houses taking beatings ect. If u ever get a chance to make it back man, I'd love to suggest some secret spots to ya! I wouldn't let u down, and for the most part, It really is like a second home for us Va.B kids! Easy to find in Nagshead/Kill Devil Hills....I could just name the streets(my boy just dropped some knew ones I haven't had a chance to check yet) but was shocked when we did a spot check leaving and the secret bars are still firing, but like the broilers, some have gone to pooh....Loved that post BTW, of when u got worked by 8' shorey @Sandy's and ur gear got mashed...talk about memorable man:)LOL
CarpeWave1401 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Yeah, that was at Ke Iki's on the North Shore that blew me up. Sandy's pound for pound will give Ke Iki's a run for it's money, but Sandy's very rarely approaches the size of waves that can come in at Ke Iki's. I might have put it under the Sandy's spot because the wave is similar in intensity. I will def remember your offer if I can make it back to OBX. I'd love to hit a big swell both riding it and shooting it.
dangalow1401 days ago +4 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Oh yeah, I've practically been in school the last 3 years, so I don't get to hit it as often as the crew, but we condition on the small stuff, and I never done a reef, had a chance in Cali, but about pissed in my pants! So many broke boards I seen, and people with HELMETS! WTF!!! But when it comes to the drift, I just roll with the punch, try to catch one to shore, get out and walk back to try to paddle back where it fires...so it's pancake season right now? DAMN! we need the booger photog to cheer for on the front page!:) Even the small waves make it to the top from u(rad shots BTW, went through them on FB)!!!!! I'll pray for some swell for u tonight!

Thanks Dangalow! Yeah it just breaks my heart. I think this is going to suck so badly. That coastline and marine environment was so preserved. All throughout our lives growing up down there it's conservation conservation conservation. Now it all to waste. Cause some oil company didn't design their stuff up to par and now they're screwing up the world. If this isn't one more reason to quit relying on petroleum products, I don't know what is!

Hey Carpewave. I know that your speciality is shots in the water. But I was just wondering if the next time you go out if you could take a few photos either further back from the shoreline or looking along the beach. I ask because I've never been to or not liable to get to your neck of the woods, and I'm interested to see what the ''whole'' place looks like. If you could do just a few that would be great, but if it's too much of a problem I would understand...ta :)
Spongerdudette1451 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Just realised that my ''request'' may of sounded like a form of criticism, far from it your shots are very good. But I am genuinely interested to see the ''whole'' view. Sorry if that came over the wrong way, it was definitely not my intention :)
CarpeWave1450 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
No problem. I am getting back into land shooting, although I have hit several snags with my new camera. I figured it all out now and there are many shots that I want to do/redo. I have had other requests for lineup shots, so I started toting around my other camera to look for some. Those girls at Vland was my first attempt and look what happened with that one. haha. I wonder....do you think people are interested in landscape shots too, or is that too much non-surf oriented? I wonder if they would delete those too. Thanks for the request. I love feedback!
Spongerdudette1450 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I'm so glad that you didn't take my request the wrong way. I think that if you can capture one or two really good landscape shots then users on here will like them for example http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=162706 and also http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=162455, both have been/are top rated shots. Also a good photo taken from the beach/shoreline getting the wave just at the right time would go down well I think, another example http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=162873 which was top rated shot last night for a while. And I believe that if you can ''capture the moment'' users will really like and enjoy them, as you seem to have a natural talent for photography. Once again please understand that I am in no way criticizing your ability or photos as I think that you are very good in what you can and are able to do :)

CarpeWave1449 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Thanks for all the feedback Dudette. You definitely keep me motivated to keep my eye out for good shots! I already have some, but they are all .jpg's due to me trying to figure out my camera. I am going to be repeating some of the shots as I see the conditions again. Unfortunately, the big North Shore swells are pretty much done. The sand is piling back up on the reef. Summer is here and town gets the swells now. Much smaller waves. The massive swells that hit Teahupoo provide us 6 foot swells max usually. Anything above 6 feet is unreal for South shore. We only get a few of those swells each summer. But, maybe with this El Nino year, the summer will be as good as the winter....epic! Let's hope so!

Ah so I was right in the first place about you being a student, and didn't have to resubmit my comment.....oh well never mind ay :) I'm glad that my comments have inspired you and I'm more then sure that you'll do well and get the photos that you want :D
CarpeWave1449 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
My focus is definitely going to be on the surf! I have to keep motivated to remember to get out of my car and go check out all the spots on the way to and from my spots! I am scheduled to leave Hawaii at some point when I graduate. So, every drive to the North Shore I take the scenic route.....the East side. There are lots of great photo ops. Not much photos that involve surf though. I'll get those on the North Shore. Hmmmm. Do you think pictures of scenes around Oahu would still be appropriate for the site if they don't involve the ocean or surf?
Toad1449 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I hope that you don't mind me hijacking this thread. I'm sure that they'll be well received. There are lots of pictures on this site that do not have waves or surf material in them. However, if you are concerned that they will be deleted, it is worth remembering that it is better to try and fail than not to try at all. I love your photo's and would be interested to see what the rest of the Island looks like. If you say 'Hawaii' then the first thing people are likely to think of is surfing. This does not mean to say that I would cherrish a photo of your Hawaiian kitchen cupboard but pics of the local scenery would be great. I appreciate that there are only so many hours in the day and the fact that your 'other' photo got deleted. The only way to find out is to post a couple up and see what the response is...
Spongerdudette1449 days ago -2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I'll be totally honest with you. Maybe if you uploaded one maybe two maximum scenic photos which was exceptional (only word that I can think of) of Oahu you may get a good number of views, but not as many as what you have been currently getting for your photos on here. Any more then that I believe that some users on here would slate you quite badly by saying that this is a surfing website. However if you were able to take some scenic views but a little surf/waves somewhere in it I think that you'll do okay. I've been going back through older photos tagged ''landscape'', and there are some absolutely brilliant shots there which sadly has been overlooked and poorly rated. But with your photography skills I think that if you can get the odd scenic views with definitely just a little ocean showing it would be okay. The other thing to take into consideration is that if you tried to upload too many pure scenic shots, they may not get accepted and given approval by msw to be shown on here. This is just a thought, as I don't know if you would want to, have the time to or have the necessary computer equipment (sorry bit of a computer idiot) but maybe you could setup your own website showing photos of various things e.g. scenic or surf. There is a website I look at www.thehidaway.co.uk and the owner has uploaded all different types of photos on there ranging from coastal, scenic right through to events happening in the local area. Take a look at it, because I think that from a photographer, as well as a viewer point of view you might find it interesting, and maybe it will give you some ideas as to what you want to do.

Toad has made a very good point there Carpe Wave.
CarpeWave1449 days ago Unrated Rate Positive Rate Negative
Damn, I love this site....Thanks so much for the comments! I think you both have good points. I'm going to take the scenic shots really slow when it comes to uploading them so as not to be labeled the 'anti-surf' picture guy, but I will upload them! And a bonus....some of the shots I'm eyeing out have water in them! hehe Cool site! Castles! Wow. We don't have castles here obviously. So intriguing to me when a culture is so much older than ours....although that's pretty much all of them huh? America is still pretty young in the grand scheme of things.

For all that are interested, here is the tactful response I got from MSW. No worries. In the future I'll ask the women. If I can find those two, I'll ask them and put the photo back up! hehe. Here it is: It's a fair question. You said in the comments that the girls had not given their permission for the photo to be published and whilst it's perfectly legal (so long as it's not used commercially) we're uncomfortable allowing girls to be objectified who have not consented to it. So sorry for pulling the shot but that's the reason. You should see some of the shots we get sent in! As you can see from the most viewed shots we used to allow all sorts of dubious stuff on but for the last couple of years we have worked on the principle that it's a about the best surfing/wave shot not who has the best arse. There are other sites for that!
dangalow1453 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
"Arse!" hahaha....one was on her back, and the other was a front shot...but either way, completly understand what Admin raadmen are getting at....I'm sure there will be more to come?(lady shots with perfect waves?)
Sneakybadger 1453 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Fair response but seems odd that they left the recent top shot on here in that case. The girls arses at pipe.
Younes1452 days ago +2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
I guess it's a matter of "equilibrium" : the pipe pic had to much audience. Now They just wanna balance the kind of pics / topic's, diversify 'em kind of... Too many "arses" pics in a row doesn't seem to cope with their positionning... Fair enough
CarpeWave1451 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Those girls must have consented huh? Just like all the other pictures of girls on here. All consented.
Younes1451 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Don't be pissed buddy, nezt time, to avoid any "consentment" issue, frame' em this way : http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=29162. 'Cause when they bend over, they all look the same (No offense chicas, I admit it's just another darn greasy joke but it's so relevant in this case : )

I am not trying to give guys something to drool over. Here's my point: This is the surf culture I am photographing. Girls are tanning as guys are surfing. This is reality. This is real life. This is how the North Shore is. That shot was a well arranged shot. It had a lot to say as there was a lot of action going on, one girl was putting on sunscreen, the other was flipping on her towel, and there was a guy riding V-land in the background and you could see the lineup. There were even rocks in the water half way between the girls and the break to give the photo depth. This was not a gratuitous butt shot. The girls faces weren't even visible, so their identity was preserved. One had a hat on and was looking down, the other was facing the other direction. I was bummed that it got deleted because it seems like people made the photo out to be porn. The female form has been portrayed in art since the beginning of time! So why in the surf culture of all places?! are people objecting to girls in bikinis?! Go check out any surf video, surf mag, surf competition, surf beach or anything related to surf (like a Beach Boys song) and you're going to find girls in bikinis. Guys walk around Hawaii beach scenes without their shirts on and girls do too. They go to eat lunch like that here. Ted's Bakery on the North Shore for example. It's a normal way of life. It's accepted. This is a surf site! This is surf culture! Here's my suggestion: seperate the photos to a different folder called (bikinis) and then put all those photos there. That's what Surfline does. Seperate this folder from the surf photos and only reserve one spot per week on the homepage for (Your daily surfer girl,) then you're keeping the home page from being mainly populated by bikini shots and you're still allowing the photos to be posted and seen. I garauntee you that you could do a seperate section on the homepage for your daily surf girl and sell the ad space right next to it and make bucks!!! Look at how freaking popular the photos are for crying out loud. People want to see this or you wouldn't get 10 times the normal amount of hits as an only-surf photo!!! Women are clicking on the surf girl shots too! Ask Dudette! Select all photos on the surf site and then sort them by most popular. You'll notice a trend immediately. Actually here you go: http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/browsePhotos.php?order=views They mentioned a concern of theirs. MSW doesn't want the homepage filled with girl-shot-non-surf photos. Understandable! That doesn't mean you have treat good photos like they're porn.
Spongerdudette1449 days ago Unrated Rate Positive Rate Negative
You're quite right Carpewave, just because there are photos showing girls in bikinis doesn't mean that it is porn. Like you say guys surfing and girls sunbathing is part of the ''beach'' culture. If the shot is done in such a way to show ''beach life'' then there is nothing wrong with that. What makes it into a soft porn shot is people like Horowitz who has now been deleted thank goodness with his sexual comments, which I found extremely offensive as if I wanted to read such filth I would find a website for that. Like I've said before, I found most of the comments on the photo of those two girls rather amusing and didn't take any offence whatsoever, as the comments were only banter and not of a serious sexual nature. I personally didn't rate that photo or comment on it's content only replied to some of the witty comments that the guys posted on there. But again, there is a major difference between photos showing ''beach life'' and porn.

Hey CarpeWave. The photo that was top rated with those two girls sunbathing in. Well it would appear that you removed it...maybe because of that pillock Horowitz??? If you did please don't worry about his comments because he's just an idiot who is trying to cause havoc and pretending that he's ''protecting'' us females. I can assure you that I personally took no offence to the shot, and seeing as the girls knew that you were there taking photos and didn't want to be in them. Well I can guarantee that they would of made it know to you, in more ways then one. So like I say....don't fret :)

Thanks Dudette! That's awesome of you. I don't know why the photo as removed. I'm still waiting for a reply somewhere from MSW admin. I agree, the girls were smilin. They knew I was taking photos. Who cares?!! haha I wasn't worried about his comments because he is just being narrow minded and not realizing that the majority of people out there like this stuff or it wouldn't be so popular. Like last weeks photo of those butts.

The thing is, I want to post up some photos like this on POD and I just want to know why it was removed before I waste my time taking shots that they're just going to reject. I'd be nice if they'd let me put my photo back up. There was nothing wrong with it. Am I missing something here? What rules did I violate? Just want to know.
Spongerdudette1455 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Oh I thought that you had removed it Carpewave. I had just finished writing a comment about it on your photo, pressed submit and it came up with ''photo can't be found''. I went to front page and there was nothing except 1 photo from Devon (UK), refresh and refresh still the same, logged out and then back in, still the same. After about 5 minutes the front page came back up with new photos on them. So if you didn't remove the shot, maybe msw had a techincal problem and photos deleted.....just a thought.

hey bro, i was curious on where i could find a decent water housing for my cannon. Right now im just shooting video with my Sony V1U and lately i have been wanting to shoot photos so any suggestions would be greatful.
CarpeWave1478 days ago -1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
You have to pay good money for a waterhousing for a SLR camera. They run around 2000 dollars at SPL. SPL is the leading housing man out there. He will definitely take care of ya no matter what the camera. He is a little pricy though and he doesn't negotiate since he has no shortage of customers. You can find cheaper, you just have to search. I use SPL. If you're shooting with a point-and-shoot Canon, they now make housings for pretty much all their cameras as far as I know. That's what I started with. I worked my way up to my current setup. It can get quite expensive. If you're in the marines, you probably have USAA. They have this insurance called Valuable Personal Property insurance. Get it for anything you're taking out there. That's some the best advice I can give you.

Hey Carpe, I've just been testing out my new waterhousing and was curious what kind of housing your using. Dome port or flat port? Also what's your technique for keeping water drops off the port? Your images look very sharp. I've only had limited success with keeping drops off the port. Thanks for the feedback. I really enjoyed you images.
CarpeWave1478 days ago +1 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Here's the honest truth. I had to ask a few people this and trust me, you will never have try anything again. Before you ever get to the water, make sure there are no oils or anything on your port. Next, spit on it. Over and over until you have covered the port with spit. This may work for you right there, but I take it one more step and lick the port all over. It is quite embarrassing, no way around it. Make sure you don't hit your nose or face on the port, or you'll get oil on it and you're screwed. Once there is a complete, full cover of spit on it for awhile without letting it dry, enter the water for your session. Keep it wet the whole session. Only bring it out to change settings or take photos. That spit film should stay there the entire session unless you bump into it and disrupt it. I have a dome port for my fish eye lens.

Hello mate, quick question, I would like to ask your advice on buying your spencer skipper/clark/keiki shot. I was going to request that the wife buy me that shot for my birthday (in a couple of months). What would you think would be the optimal size print, I would like to get the biggest one but was wondering if you think it would still be sharp at that size? Or would you recommend the slightly smaller size? Probably a dumb question and i'm not questioning your photography (excellent by the way). Just wondered if you could guide me a little to get the most out of your work. Cheers mate!
CarpeWave1478 days ago -2 Rating Rate Positive Rate Negative
Wow! Sorry, to just now be responding. Haha! Just noticed that people can ask me questions on my profile page. So sorry, wasn't ignoring you. It will still be sharp at any size. The photo that you're looking at is about a third of the size of the photo. If you want to set up a flickr account, I could zoom in at full size and let you see the resolution yourself. It would only be a clip from the photo, but it would give you an idea of what it would look like blown up. Wow! Never mind, just opened the photo in Photoshop and blew it up to 100%. Clark and Skip are crystal clear sharp. It is cherry. Feel free to buy the big one. You won't be losing any quality.

Hey no worries about the late response, I kind of figured that was the case! Don't worry about the flickr test thing, I trust you! :) Like I said it won't be for a couple of months as it is likely to be a birthday present from the wife (unless I get payed early for one of my freelance jobs, in which case I will buy it myself). Although, it's probably a good thing for me to wait a little while anyway, I have changed my mind about which of your photos to buy about 3 times now! First was the stormy left hander, then the really thick left closeout from the same session (i think), now this one! Who knows, you may upload another one that I like even more! :) I love your work man, I can't wait to have one on my office wall!
