Great shots . I'm a photographer (amateur) in Westport WA USA and I’m trying to start an international surfing event (online) on January 1st each year. I call it SURF DAY 1... and my goal is to inspire surfers to start the new year out right... in the water. What I would like (and this is where you come in) is for as many people as possible to send me a great picture from a New Years Day Surf Session.... wherever they are in the world. My goal for this first SURF DAY 1 is to get pictures from 10 countries and 50 beaches. Next year I want to make a bigger deal out of it…. With prizes for the winning shots. The team at Wittering Surf Shop may be a small one but their knowledge spans all levels....
We specialise in surfing, surf hardware and surf fashion and we make sure that we know our stuff.
We know that we can't sell you that new style of board if we don't know a thing about the construction or advise you of the benefits of a wetsuit with a front zip if we have never worn one... so, we swot up in our own time to make sure that we can give you the best possible advice, information and after sales service.
We are advocates for the products we stock. We surf the boards, we wear the clothes, we try on the wetsuits. The idea is that we fill the shop with gear that we like and that we think you'll like too.
We are also a friendly, chatty and approachable team. We are definately not too cool for school and welcome surfers of all levels to pop in for a chat or advice. We also welcome non surfers who want to come in for a browse of the extensive clothing and accessories ranges we stock.
Wittering Surf Shop also has a fledgling surf team. We feel that it's important to put back in to the sport of surfing and so we are pleased to promote and support our local groms. We've got two special groms as our team riders at present and we think that we are very lucky to have them!

Our store is located in the centre of East Wittering village, West Sussex and is just a 5 minute walk to one of the most consistent surf spots on the South Coast this side of Devon.
East Wittering has been a haven for surfers since the late sixties and remains a popular spot to this day. Wittering Surf Shop is owned by local surfer Nick Cheshire who has lived and surfed in the area all his life.
In 2009 our shop was awarded the accolade of 'Best New Business by the Sea' by the glossy magazine 'Coast' recognising all the hard work of the staff and especially Nick's insight which has created the business you can see today. Anyone is welcome to come see us, have a chat, ask questions and join us for a surf.
Drift-In Surf Cafe opened in March 2009 and is the newest addition to the Wittering Surf Shop empire! Located adjacent to the shop the cafe has a chilled out, relaxed atmosphere and decor which creates a feeling of calm.
Well known for our coffee, we use triple certified Origin beans which are organic, soil association and fairtrade certified. The beans are now roasted in Cornwall so it's unbelievable freshness is always guaranteed. Your coffee will be made by a trained barista to ensure that the blend, grind and coffee flavour is second to none...whether your a expresso fan or more of a latte freak there will definately be something on our menu to whet your appetite.
With an emphasis on fresh food and good quality ingredients the Drift-In Surf Cafe offers smoothies, milkshakes, fresh juices, homemade soups, wraps and pancakes as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and homemade cakes. The menu is light and varied and gives you the chance to try new and exciting flavour combinatons or to stick with good old traditional favourites. We invite you to take a look at our sample menu so you can decide what your favourite indulgence might be!
As you can see from the pictures the cafe walls are adorned with vintage surfboards and we always ensure the coffee table has the latest surf magazines for you to flick through whilst enjoying your food and drink. As well as surfboards we are also delighted to use our walls to showcase local artist's work from paintings to pictures and even some driftwood art.
We are pleased to have recieved some great press since we opened and Drift-In Surf Cafe even has it's own fan page on facebook!
