Activities
Surf
Surfis the number one activity you can do in Puerto Viejo. Puerto Viejo has the famous Salsa Brava, a wave that forms itself in deep waters and breacks to the right and left on a sharp coral reef. It's the strongest wave in Costa Rica and is to be ridden only by experts.
But there are some other breaks for intermidiate and begginers levels.
Diving
Diving in the Ocean to see Dolphins, Turtles, living Coral Reef and a lot of Exotic Caribbean fishes. The coral reef in the caribean is one big ecosystem richer in flora and fauna.
Hiking
Meet a lot of animals like the famous screaming Howler Monkey or the frisky White Face Cappuccino Monkey and far wide Jumping Spider Monkey (Spider Man In the Jungle) also Raccoons , Coatis, Sloths, Caimans, Manatee ( River Cow), wild Turkeys , Tiger Herons , three species of Kingfisher, Sea Eagle, Hawks, Toucans, Hummingbirds, Butterflies like the Blue Morph, the Conquista Traveler Monarch and the common Viceroy Butterfly.
