Fantastic! Full-on Jr. Hellman! Personal favorites: #1 The mega thick man-eater at Chopes. Holy fu*k! Is the photo comment a euphemistic way of saying that the lip drilled his ass, buckling his board, and simultaneously dislocated his knee? Give this young charger two or three months, and he'll be back on it.

From time to time, I just have to return and check out this incredibly sick mutant slab. It reminds me of the sheer bravado of some athletes and also the need for those who speak disparagingly of "spongers" to show some respect.

Rider paying dues and duck-divers hoping that there's not an even bigger wave out the back.

Despite all of these life-threatening hardships, it's nice to see that a humble surfer can still keep a roof over his head.

Well said. Although the photo is ever-so-slightly out of focus, it gives (at least to me)the impression of movement...speed. What is well enough in focus is the rider's face. It's not all blurry. Notice the facial angle, the upward turned brow...There is the real focus...This guy is goin' for and his a$$ is gonna make it!

Sort of... If this is truly Negra, the surrounding vegetation is not tropical rain forest but tropical dry forest. This forest appears very thick and verdant during the wet (May-Nov.), but it becomes extremely dry from Dec.- April with many trees losing their leaves in order to conserve moisture. Extremely tall trees and non-deciduous vegetation typical of tropical rain forests are only abundant along rivers and streams. The East coast of CR, where it rains much more and the wet-dry seasons aren't quite as pronounced, does have tropical rain forest. It's really impressive to surf there and from the glassy outside lineup watch the morning vapors rising from the jungle coalesce into a light misty rain with the sun shining through; giving a golden-spray aura to the forest canopy.

That' what I thought when I saw the photo. Trees in the background seem too big and too plentiful. But then again, it's been 20 years since I last surfed there. Generally too crowded for my likes since the restaurant/bar/surf camp was constructed. I still stop by for a nostalgic look and see from time to time. Still, a super-fun wave when it's on.

Again, I'm impressed. You Brits, Scots, and Irish have been making some great waves and photos on the other side of the pond. Keep up the good work.

As long as it's your 9'6'', I'm sure there'll be no objections.
