you're right arch, they don't do that, but i've seen pics of sharks very close to the lip and they still don't go over. it's clearly not one, but your hypothesis doesn't hold good

bummer, sounds like things have changed a bit in the last year or so, but it was always mayhem on a decent day at the pier. as you say, could be worse next time. i have a bodyboarding nephew who got the nose of a board in the head, partial paralysis of his left left leg as a result of brain damage. i think a sign with 'surf etiquete' would be a good start, but maybe surf shops should issue a standard leaflet with basic etiquette pointers with every sale, be it wax or a board.

oi, that was going to be my line. oh well, i'll just settle for a night in a camper van somewhere cold and idyllic.., aberystwyth maybe? we'll down a few mushrooms, dance naked round a fire wearing masks of bacchus, howl at the full moon a bit, take the piss out of xmas for an hour or so before zipping our sleeping bags together for a bit of 'how's your father'.

	thanks for the support buddy. I was going to take a direct pop at the "fish" comment & then remembered that I did that around 8 months ago to another Yank & did not hear the end of it, so I did the "semi-stupid" style of comment yesterday & got slated for it!!!!!!!! Just can't win sometimes...............still, if all I have got to worry about is a few minus ratings, then life can't be to bad overall. hahaha!!!!
