Eight-year-old Charlie Holland from Kingscliff places his board on the lawn and lines up politely at the Kirra Surfriders BBQ tent behind the dunes at D'Bah. As he waits in the queue for a juice and a hotdog, Roy Powers spots the top of his head poking over the counter. "Hey, I saw you get that wave and beach it! You rode it all the way to the sand, I was saluting you, banging my board, clapping, what a ride!" Charlie froze on the spot. Freddy P added, "Nice work, little man!" Before long the shyness and awe dissipated and little Charlie walked away like it was no big deal, eating his juice container and trying to drink the hotdog.
