1. Strategy: The old Parker Bros favourite "Risk" has been helpful in strategic planning. Take over countries in the same way you plan to take over the heat-draw when the contest starts.
2. Co-ordination: Jumping rope in the bullpen keeps the heart pumping especially in the Tahitian heat.
3. Relaxation: Trying not to go troppo by finding a solitary place to deep breathe and focus on the job at hand when the surf returns.
4. Familiarisation:
Swim, float, snorkel around the break, see why it breaks where it does, get to know the place.
5. Association: They may be your foe as soon as the contest singlet is on, but hanging around like-minded positive chaps is an excellent way to keep focussed.
