Surf conditions at 7.00 a.m. on Easter Monday 1st april 2013:
The sun is trying to burn through, really trying but not succeeding yet.
And so it is still cold with that light south easterly wind grabbing at you, all stinging and annoying but still keeping that swell in check.
The surf has dropped but not hugely, It's still three feet, bigger on some sets. And it's rolling into the bay neatly and orderly, the paddle out looking way easier than the last few days.
I think that sun might just win the battle eventually and then it will feel warmer and cosier and suddenly it will all be much more inviting.
Recently in our 'TOP TIPS FROM TUBING TOBY' section, you might have read about our experiments in attempting to increase the planing speed of boards by the application of 'WD40' to the hull of a surfboard. While, in our opinion, a quantifiable increase in surfboard speed has been demonstrated, we never condoned its use in southern, warmer waters. Being a fish oil based product notice might have been given that it may indeed attract attention from other inhabitants of the world's ocean. we have been advised that suitable warnings should have been contained within the article.
We therefore apologise unreservedly to those of you who enthusiastically followed our 'TOP TIPS' Number 46, who might have been the attention of sharks and other predatory sea life resulting in loss of limb and, thankfully much rarer, loss of life.
And for those who suffered the psychological distress of unwanted amorous attention from sea lions and other 'baskers', well, we truly are sorry! We genuinely hope that a full recovery is made by all.
