Medium Onshore wind
Surf conditions at 6.20 a.m. on Monday 24th June 2013:
It's a chilly start to the morning but brighter, drier, lighter and more optimistic than it has been for a few days.
The wind has dropped from the weekend's blow-through but it is still fresh and it is still from the north west, onshore at most places here.
So, it's a bright and breezy morning following that supermoon night, full of promise for later but showing a mixed up and bouncy three to four feet of clear and sparkly surf right now, just off the top of the tide.
The wind is forecast to gradually ease throughout today which should help to make for more organised surf but I think that it really needs an offshore to clean it up significantly.
And you know what will happen then? Yep, the swell will drop!
Anyway there are half decent waves rolling through right now and they should easily last the day out.
Wimbledon gets under way today and a lot of muddy boots will soon be trekking Glastonbury way.
With a variety of sporting events rolling out as well as the festival season getting under way, there is a lot to distract us away from the beach life! That makes for a usually quieter time around this rugged and raggedy little area of Cornwall and that makes it a great time to enjoy our wide open beaches and bays!
It really is a good time to be a surfer in Cornwall, especially if the surf kicks in. And that is looking very probable this week!
The water is warming up (slowly but surely!), the weather is improving (in spite of the Beeb's conservative forecasting) and our visitors are not yet upon us.
So, hose down the barbee and chill the vino collapso for those post surf evenings on the beach! And drag out the longboard for a relaxing glide in the sunshine!
The schools are going to be out soon enough and those welcome visitors will soon be demanding our full attention!
Let's hope for some of that rolling summer swell and that overdue sunshine to brighten up the tourquoise sea!
The Oakly Keramas comp in Indo is about as out on timing as you can get with all of the main action rolling through our nighttime!
Although a lay day was called again for last night there is still a lot of action going on!
