Surf conditions at 6.20 a.m. on Monday 5th August 2013:
It's another damp and dismal start to the day, steady rainfall washing down the beaches and re-hydrating the golf course.
The wind is light and onshore making the couple of feet of surf a bit bumpy and fat, the still lined up little waves being pushed over a little earlier than they would like.
So it's a grey and peaceful view across the headland this morning but with the promise of brighter and better to come later, although maybe not until this afternoon. By then though it should be brighter and lighter, the afternoon tide showing something just a little better, the promise of evening HTC being the best hope for a fun surf.
The groms are going to be fidgetty, although they tend to make the most of these conditions, looking for those sloppy sections to air hop over. It's just the older (and slower) amongst us that shrug when the surf is a little weak and crumbly. You'll get a wave but it might not be that great!
