Surf conditions at 7.05 a.m. on Thursday 3rd October 2013:
A silver blanket of cloud is snuggling over us this morning, a lighter corner over there where the sun is tugging at the corners. The wind is light, light and offshore.
And the waves are still rolling ashore, three feet plus of curling walls, wrapping around the Reef and peaking in the middle of the bay.
Yep, it's looking good again! It is better than yesterday with the wind being lighter, still offshore, still grooming that even swell, just lighter than it has been.
I'd get on it sooner rather than later if you can, it doesn't often stay this good for too long and inevitably that wind will switch. Probably (hopefully) not until later this afternoon but it is going to swing at least a few degrees.
Those September swells seem to be making up for a slow start (even if it is October!) with some stoking waves gliding through this last week or two! And how warm is that water! It is a bit strange getting winter wetsuit deliveries at the shop when that water temperature is nudging around the top teens! But I guess that it won't be long before those temperatures gradually drop and that thick and warm winter wetsuit becomes your newest and snuggliest, bestest best friend!
And this season's suits, with their hydrophobic outers and wicking linings, air bubble neoprene and super stretchy materials are pretty awesome! Drop in on us for a gander if you're around the area this weekend!
