Strong Offshore wind
Surf conditions at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday 5th January 2014:
OUR WEBSITE SERVER IS STILL DOWN (JUST A LITTLE BIT ANNOYING!!) SO HERE"S TODAY"S SURF REPORT (on Twitter and Facebook):
Well, it's not quite the massive drama that I was expecting, I guess that the underlying swell must be relatively southerly, most of the brute force slipping by the bay.
But, it really is still pretty big around here with massive surges sweeping through the bridge, those monster set waves throwing spray higher than the cellars, Cheyne's Left spiraling in at high water.
There are those sets peeling off the Rock too though.
The stream (now river?) is flowing towards the middle of the bay making for an unusual rip setup but also making a paddle-out easier if you're keen?
You'd have to be keen and fit and experienced and surf-smart to even think about it but with a bit of ducking and diving and a whole heap of paddling, you could just luck into a few piledrivers and maybe, just maybe catch a screamer or two. Some deep and hollow pits are throwing themselves around out there!
Low tide should be interesting!
And then there are those other tucked away spots, the ones that are rarely ridden but have become the hotspots of this winter! One or two of those could be fun today!
But if you do venture anywhere near the coast today, take it easy, it really does have that angry look to it this morning. A grumpy, brooding and snappy bull of an ocean, ready to slap you down if you're not ready.
It might just be better to leave it to those with that burning desire and the fitness and training schedule of a north devon plumber!
Hopefully we will have WWW.CONSTANTINESURF.COM back up and flying soon (I should have some separate, exciting news on that soon as well!) but in the meantime I'll try and get the surf check out on social media and seaweed and everywhere else. Just look for constantinesurf and you should find something somewhere!
