Howling Cross-Shore wind
Surf conditions at 7.05 a.m. on Friday 28th February 2014:
Eeek, it's a grim one this morning!
The surf is huge though and kind of more interesting than that string of storms over the new year too. There are big, big waves breaking around the Quies and then lining up again before peaking off Bullrock and dredging across Booby's. Other peaks are standing tall halfway out to the islands before turning themselves inside out over some unknown sandbank. That has to be a mile or so offshore? A rarely seen sight anyway.
I'm guessing that it can't be the biggest surf of winter and yet it has that massive, immense look to it this morning.
The wind is howling across the bay, a hard driving northerly wind, all noise and anger, a chilling wind in a winter full of storms.
Anyway, it's a dark and cold and blowy one out there this morning, it might be an idea to stay warm and cosy if you can, you wouldn't want to be tackling those waves today, not here anyway.
If you are linked in to Twitter you must have seen all those stunning images of the Aurora Borealis from last night. Just incredible images from the tip of Scotland all the way down to the bottom of Essex. It's almost worth putting up with all the other drivel just for those images!
But it is nice that the days are stretching out a little. Only a little but it's suddenly noticeable!
It won't be long before the pre and post work/school crews start getting on it. All that we really need are some settled conditions allowing for some cleaner swells instead of these non-stop storms!
But that will come with Spring I'm sure!
With that thought in our minds we have a bit going on in the shop!
All that lovely new spring and summer stock is already on its way to us and so we will have to clear a bit more space!
