Surf conditions at 6.00 a.m. on Saturday 7th June 2014:
That wind of yesterday has eased off and it’s a bit cooler too but in spite of that blanket of silver cloud cover it is still dry and pleasant. A contrast to that dramatic storm last night! A night of thunderclaps and lightning and sudden downpours but it’s dry enough and bright enough and a little fresher this morning.
The surf is as pretty as a picture, a foot or two with a light offshore on it making for little waves that are peeling and peeling, all hollow and clean. And, as always when it’s like this, you cannot help but wonder why it’s so rarely like this when it’s pumping?
So, right now it’s all knee to hip high gliders with some bigger ones sliding onto the lineup every ten minutes or so.
It does look like a proper little swell though and that makes you think that it should build, although these real small neap tides (only 3 metres ish of tidal movement) aren’t going to be helping it that much. There’s a bit of an angle to it, those swell lines sliding across the Reef rather than hitting head on.
I reckon that it just might be very good in a while, maybe very, very good!
And of course it’s going to brighten up!
We have just received our Pukas Inspiration Project Ts featuring an image of Toby taken by Cheyne and put together by those fine artisans at Pukas in Spain (they’re the guys that make boards for Mr Gabriel Medina).
So, if you want to go shopping this weekend, why not drop in on us? We have loads of new stuff hanging on the rails ready for Summer!
