Surf conditions at 5.55 a.m. on Saturday 23rd August 2014: It’s the start of a holiday weekend and it is all brightening quickly after a bit of a blustery downpour in the half light of a later dawn. Daylight is taking longer to show itself these days! The wind is light but still from the north west, still keeping the air temperatures down, still messing up the surf a bit, although the surf is pretty small anyway. There’s a foot or so of quite weak looking little waves washing onto the beach, maybe enough to get going on but not great. But the skies are brightening, big blue bits stretching further by the minute and that always makes the surf look more inviting. I’m sure that it will all be much more attractive soon enough, and we’ll be gliding across knee high and fun waves, probably on a longboard, by early afternoon. The Water is so warm, why wouldn’t you?
