Surf conditions at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday 9th January 2013:
The thermometer isn't showing it but after the last few days it is feeling a little chilly out there this morning. There is a light but cutting north easterly breeze gently blowing offshore into a steady little swell.
So, a glassy four feet or so of surf is thundering onto the back of the Reef, the set waves sectioning here and there, occasionally shutting down, the smaller ones peeling nicely. With an hour or two to go before low tide, I think that we can expect it all to only get better through this morning!
Right now it's glassy, it's hollow (occasionally), it's big enough to do whatever you want but small enough not to worry, yep, it's looking good and is probably going to improve!
The sky is still very overcast but all of the forecasts are showing that to clear soon enough and those same sites are showing the wind to stay light and swing more easterly.
I think that we are in for a very pleasant day of very good surf!
