Surf conditions at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday 23rd January 2013:
Our website seems to be down at the moment and so for the full report check our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/constantinesurf
I know that the shortest day is well behind us but it does still seem that we have to wait for ever for just a peak of daylight, enough to check out what the surf is doing! Although, looking at the daffodils that have already pushed their way through, Spring isn't that far away! And I guess that we can't complain, snuggled up for Winter on this craggy stretch of the wild coast of Cornwall, we seem to have missed that weather that seems to have brought a little chaos to the rest of the country.
Although, it would have been nice to have had some of that white stuff to play in!
But we have had plenty of those blue waves to play in recently. Fabulous surf has been washing ashore pretty much since the start of the year!
And it's good again today!
Three to maybe four feet of clean and peeling waves are continuing to spin themselves into the coves and bays, standing tall and proud off the back of the reefs, clumsily folding themselves across those slabs, steering the odd A-frame onto the beaches.
Yep, it's looking good again, the breeze is settled offshore for the day, a little northerly, well, north easterly right now to be more accurate but with the forecasts showing a slip to direct east soon enough.
All the usual breaks should be on fire, with enough energy out there to get waves into those more seldom surfed, sheltered spots. I hear that D-Bay has been offering peeling gliders to the longboarding hordes while a few of the guys have been enjoying the crowded peaks down at 'leven too. That is a wide spread of surfing opportunities! But I'm also hearing of little forrays into those gently whispered, lesser known breaks too! It seems that there have been good waves everywhere recently, let's hope it lasts!
And if you're craving a little feelgood moment, turn the volume up and have a little look at this short film at http://youtu.be/AT3CeGjfvoo Filmed by Tim (Boydell), sung by Ruarri (Joseph), raked by Tony (Plant)!
d thanks to Red Van Rob for the suggestion of running a, 'strangest place to take a pic of a Constantine Bay Surf Store' travel mug' competition. And he's even kicked it off by supplying the image below of one of our finest coffee mugs sitting on an ROV (I don't know either! But I guess it's on a boat somewhere a long way away)! You know where to send them (firstname.lastname@example.org)!
Let's see if we can beat Toby's sticker at the Bank of England from last year!
The usual prizes and kudos and fame to the ones that are published!
Watch out for another PoP uP SALe this weekend! Maybe time to get some new boots, gloves or a hat? Or even take full advantage and grab yourself a bargain wetsuit!
