Medium Cross-Shore wind
Surf conditions at 7.30 a.m. on Friday 1st February 2013:
Hmm, it is so close to being good!
The wind is from the north west, or maybe north nor' west, it's blowing into the lefts making for some big bowls off the back of the Reef. That wind is so much lighter than it has been for ages but it is just from the wrong direction and still just a bit too strong. And that is an hour or so ahead of high tide, so it should be at its best!
With those heavy downpours connecting the grey sky to the grey sea, it's not at its most attractive!
I think that it might just be worth a little nose over to the far coast today!
It's that time of year when it seems as though almost everyone is thinking of travelling or have already packed their boardies and squeezed onto a long-haul!
Cheyne has slipped away to Maroc with Bali Charlie and Matt, the usual contingent are living the Indo dream, Micah is gorging himself on those North Shore barrels, while others are exploring America, Australia and other far-flung lands promising warmer water and clear waves.
If you are readying yourself for the airport run, don't forget that we stock all those little things that make a surf trip just that little bit more enjoyable! From sunblock to key safes, leashes to spare fins, board bags to sun hats!
And our POP UP weekend SALEs have proved so popular that we are carrying on again THIS WEEKEND!
So if you are thinking of heading off to the sun and surf, drop in on us on the way for some bargain travel accessories!
But the other side of all that is that the surf breaks have become much quieter too! And with all this swell that we have been enjoying through January along with the (relatively) mild water temperatures kind of make you think that there are worse places to be!
With a decent wetsuit (and most of them are really very good these days!), there is no real need to suffer anymore. So if you are feeling the chill, maybe it's time to take advantage of our WEEKEND WETSUIT SALE! 25% OFF all suits! Yep, all of them!
We're open 10 till 4 Saturday and Sunday but might have our heads in one of thoseSurf Travel books, looking for inspiration!
