Medium Onshore wind
Surf conditions at 7.50 a.m. on Friday 8th February 2013:
So the wind has dropped after another blast through the night, still blowing fresh but not with that pushiness that it has been having of late.
And it is blowing from almost precisely north. Almost but with a tiny bit of west in it. And that's enough to junk the surf out.
The swell is three feet, pushing two to three feet to slightly bigger occasional waves at us, still all mixed up, still sloppy, still choppy.
Those rain squalls seem to have eased back too, allowing for some brightness to gradually filter through.
So, it's a chilly, breezy morning with three feet of sloppy surf, slowly brightening but with the continuous threat of heavy showers.
It could improve dramatically this afternoon as the tide rolls back in and a lot of shelter is provided by the headlands. It should be worth a look at lunchtime!
And how much fun did I have this week, further down the coast talking surfboard shapes and stock for this coming season with a real surfboard shaper (yes there's still the odd one left out there!).
We are really, really excited about this year's surfboard stock! The plan is that a lifetime's experience in riding and handling surfboards is going to be translated into fresh, new and exciting designs from one of the most experienced surfboard manufacturers in the country. And the prices should be good too!
But way more about all that closer to the start of the season!
In the meantime, on these stormy days what can we do to tempt you through the doors of our tiny little surf store this weekend?
You do seem to have been enjoying our WEEKEND POP-UP sales with massive reductions on pretty much everything, so maybe that's the way to go again this weekend? Or how about just a WETSUIT SALE or SURFBOARD SALE with an even bigger reduction?
So, let us know what would tempt you down those winding and windswept lanes to visit us this weekend (email@example.com) and we might even give you a little reward!
