Surf conditions at 7.15 a.m. on Wednesday 6th March 2013:
It's one of those silver mornings, the same colour everywhere, just different shades.
But the sea has that darker look to it this morning, a foot of swell undulating the glassy aquamarine. The rhythm of a new swell to it. The breeze is light and from the south east, wafting pleasantly offshore, carrying a hint of rain or maybe just drizzle, or a heavy mist to come.
The sets are pushing a couple of feet of curving, watery walls our way but only after several minutes of waiting about.
But that should all improve with the waiting time between sets decreasing and the size of the waves increasing.
A doubling in size through the day? Maybe.
So, longboard to start, twitchy board for later?
In the meantime we are starting to get the shop ready for the now rapidly approaching busy season. We've already had our first delivery of Xcel wetsuits (and how do they keep making them better each season?) along with a few luvverly surf riding boards and a lorry load of stuff arriving this morning!
It's all going to get a little cramped again soon enough!
So keep your eyes open for some POP-UP SALES on the Twitter (@constantinesurf) and the Facebook (Constantine Surf) as we continue to 'buy space' by clearing out some things!
The Quiksilver Pro at Snapper was on hold yesterday with whispers that it might kick off tonight at Kirra! That would be fun to watch, if a bit testing for the goofy footers! I must admit that I've had to mute the commentary quite often, there's a couple of commentators on there who can't quite work out that they're not commentating at their very own Super Bowl. Thank God for Peter Mel, at least he's not all about him!
The action is all good though! Follow it all at quiksilverlive.com/progoldcoast/2013
