The drivethru surf camp Hvide Sande is located on the west coast of Denmark on a promontory between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord. Around the house extends our approximately 35,000m² garden.
The nearest surf spot is just 900m walk through the dunes, the private fjord access you reach after 300m. Shops and restaurants are within 2.5km to 9km ...
The majority of the surf on these west facing coasts is wind swell and suffers in the consequent onshore winds. Having to travel over the shallow North Sea, swells hitting this coasts are also reduced in power.
However they do have swell window which incorporates the occasional long-range groundswell from the north. This doesn't stop both countries having a well established surfing community. Spots on Germany's coast have been regularly surfed since the 1970s and Denmark's since the mid '80s. Water quality isn't great due to industrial activity but it is improving slowly.
Surf camps can offer a variety of types of accommodation such as apartments, hotels, rooms, camping or dormitories together with food, surf lessons and group activities. Often included are guided surf tours of the best local spots along with surf hire, videos, photography, professional coaching and even some night life.
