11 Year Old Hugo Prins, Barrelled in the Ments

By on

Hugo Prins hails from Hossegor and when you spend as much time in the waters of South West France as he has from a young age, a certain familiarity with hollow waves is inevitable.

"The first time I got covered up, I was seven years old at Le Prevent in Capbreton," Hugo tells MSW. "Surfing in and around Hossegor teaches us to be quick on the take off and to look for a barrel section. The first real barrels were at Lakey Pipe in Sumbawa. It is a lot easier to surf perfect waves of course. However, surfing beachbreaks in any condition around home is the best way to progress. Duck diving, currents, onshore or offshore, crowds, a lot of ingredients that will allow me to become a complete surfer."
