BBC and ITV surfing actor helps charity

BBC and ITV star supports the Joe Way Paddle for Life Appeal
Joe Way Paddle for Life has received the support of ITV and BBC Actor, Ben Richards for the second year running. The Newquay paddle will take place on the 23rd September at Newquay Harbour.
Paddle for Life started after lifeguards from Fistral beach in Newquay held a Joe Way memorial paddle to raise money for the charity in 2008. Joe Way is the inspirational little boy who touched people’s lives around the country and beyond.

Ben Richards, who plays PC Nate Roberts in ITV’s “The Bill”, Physiotherapist Justin Fuller in BBC BAFTA Award Winning drama “Holby City” and played Bruno Milligan in TV series “Footballers Wife’s” has shown his full support for the Paddle and provides support for the second year running.
Ben supported last year’s paddle with a signed script that helped raise over £1200.00. This year he has donated an exciting full cast script from the show “The Bill”.
The BBC and ITV Actor who holidays at Hendra Holiday Park, where Matt Way (Joe’s Dad) works; has got to know the Way family well and has offered great support to Joe’s Appeal over the last two years.
Claire Way said “It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet Ben and his wife Helen and we are delighted to have them supporting the appeal. Ben has really been getting into the spirit of things and even took some surf lessons last summer with the Pro’s Ben and Sophie Skinner of Skindog Surf School, who we are also proud to have supporting the appeal.”

The aim of the paddle is to raise awareness of Joe’s story and inspire people to raise money for their chosen charity. The Paddle for life is a community event for people of all abilities and within five years to have completed 50 paddles and to have raised £50,000 for various charities
