BILLABONG Pro Rio kicks off next week from May 11th to 22nd at Barra Arpoador the home of Brazilian surfing.
Brazilians are a proud, loud and hospitable nation who are going to go mad for a World Tour stop in the heart of their city. Forecast is looking really good for day one of the competition before settling into a pattern of consistent south/south westerly swells. Day one could be really good, opening up the beach's big left barrel. On smaller days it'll be a high performance tweaked-up aerial offensive.
What else to expect? Expensive flights and car hire prices you wouldn't believe. Plus the odd party or ten which will tempt the 'less able to say no' members of the travelling circus. Stoked for this one, a new experience and stepping into the unknown for a lot of the competitors.
