Less than two hours after Dusty Payne was hospitalised at Backdoor, stylish 80s pro Glen Jeans was found unresponsive in the water at Rocky Point.

At around 11.45am, surfers brought Glen to the shore where lifeguards performed CPR until emergency services took over. Tragically, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The cause of death is still pending investigation, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office.

His sister, Laura Hitchens, said: “He was just doing what he loved to do and that was riding the surf. He's in a better place right now  he had strong faith."

Jeans leaves behind a large family. A paddle out service in his memory will be held at China Walls in the near future. A date has not yet been set.
