THERE is no way you or anybody, even Jesus, is going to surf 3-4ft Pipeline with a couple of your surf buddies during peak season.
Pipe, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, is the most crowded and competitive wave on the planet. Period. It's just not worth it.
Most visiting surfers shun it because there's just no point (except to brag down the pub that you have paddled out) trying to snag a set wave during the crazy season.
Ian Walsh, Bruce Irons and Jamie O'Brien admittedly suffer these issues less than most -- but as a trio of Pipe specialists they are uniquely qualified to attempt this latest stunt -- night surfing the wave which has caused more serious injuries than your average despot.
