Saving a Ski from the Rocks at Nazare with Francisco Porcella

By on

Big wave surfers these days are all well dialled in water safety. It's a must, especially when attempting to paddle the world's heaviest beachbreak and probably the world's most chaotic lineup, Nazare.

However, no matter how well prepared, the ocean will always catch a few hardy chargers out and Francisco Porcella was one of them a week or so prior to the Nazare Challenge. Pedro Miranda caught up with Francisco on the eve of a heavy day when he and Axi Muniain were flipped from their ski before eventually rescuing it from the rocks.
