When most of the Llyn was completely blown out. I managed to find a pretty decent wave at Nefyn beach (found completely by accident). Never surfed there before, and we were only ones there surfing. I've been going to the Llyn Peninsula since I was little, and never seen a decent wave there before until when we went!

Had the lad found an absolutley cranking spot and posted the video he would be getting bollocked for it. The fact thats its nefyn beach a place thats usually mill pond flat and would normaly be associated with toffs in boats its all fair play. At the end of the day if there was nothing else on offer you'd take it. A bit like a fat girl at the end of a night out on the lash when nothing decent is biting.....

give the lad a break. I'v trawled round there in big messy days and been very pleased to find something even half good in conditions like that. I was plesantly chuffed to find a couple of new spots (to me) this spring. Thats the great thing about surfing up here. The South West it ain't and oftern inconsistant, but for me its still filled with feelings of space and adventure. My that always be the case. go surf. have fun

Yeah fair play to you Gordon if you managed to get some half decent waves that day it doesn't matter where you surf as long as your enjoying it mate. Keep it up and whats up with BIC boards everyone has to start somewhere??

Give the guy a break me hearties, if the fella's having fun and not pissing people off then whats the problem? I think 'enjoyable surf' is a matter of opinion - kinda like Henry says: some people are happy in smaller, even 'mushier' conditions than others - particularly when beginning surfing, and as long as theyre respecting others in the water and not pissing them off then whats the problem? Sure the Llyn has some great spots if you put the time, patience and effort in, but you need to factor in respecting the breaks themselves - ie. not taking on some mutant slab before you can stand up... In that sense, if this fella was having a good old jolly in the water then all the water? Whats the problem? You'd be really pissed off if some fella came in with a bic or swellie at some of the other spots around! Fair play to ya Gordon - respect the water, respect the people and have fucking good fun - its why we surf after all.

If you READ it properly, I never said it was the best waves I've ever seen on the Llyn. It was just that week, everywhere had been blown out and was pretty crap. I then stumbled across Nefyn Beach, and just to the left it was slightly more sheltered, but the swell was still getting in past the headland, so was creating quite a few decent 'clean' sets of waves. Which for that week was a complete success, as I was fed up of surfing white water messy blown-out rubbish. It may have been half the size of the messy blown out stuff, but atleast I had lots of great rides on unbroken wave faces which weren't getting blown out as soon as you were up! Which no one else was managing at Hell's Mouth or anywhere! Admittedly the video doesn't make it look like Hawaii, but atleast I had a good days surfing when everyone else was having a crap one at most other spots on the Llyn! Hope that answers your stupid comments.

If you were surfing that weekend on the Llyn, you'd have seen that everywhere was un-surfable pretty much. I was just gonna turn around and go home, but then as passing through Nefyn, just thought I'd check out the beach, and there was actually something surfable there. I admit, I'd never even consider Nefyn as a beach to surf on when I go to the Llyn, there are plenty better spots when the conditions are right!

your such a knob ... lol you are a serious surfer - a good comedy character do you not think? alarm goes off...up he pops holdin the rail of the mattress with a day full of surf related intesity stuff in his head...blowing into his tea and tries to read the swell direction then he dunks and drops a hobnob in to build an artificial reef....waxes the bottom of the bath but won't get in until its double over ankle...psml........

you being serious... wat a load of blown out chop, must be a joke, waste of time posting the vid man. There are plenty of amazing waves to be surfed on the Lynn, you obviously dont know how to read swell charts or know any surf spots to say the waves in your video are the best you have ever seen on the Lynn.

Well I'm not proud. I'd be up for longboarding the left hand side of the bay.
