Surf conditions at 7.25 a.m. on Tuesday 3rd December 2013:
It's another still and calm and peaceful morning down in the bay, a gentle offshore breath of a breeze wafting against the foot or so of glassy waves that are trickling through.
A thick silver cloud cover is hiding any sunshine but that has its own cosiness too, muffling the seabirds' breakfast squawking. The light of a lonesome fishing boat is searching off the headland, lighting today's catch for the restaurants of Padstow maybe.
But for a surfer, there's not much happening here this morning. Knee high glassy walls might offer you another glide if your board is big enough, that shortboard is probably going to sink, unless you're light enough and quick enough. Although the odd set wave might just be rearing up to a maybe two foot height, it's the wave period that is probably going to make it just about rideable. For their size, those little waves are going to have more oomph to them than you'd expect.
But it is still pretty small!
