Surf conditions at 7.40 a.m. on Tuesday 22nd January 2013:
The temperature seems to be flatlining at 0 deg C and yet it seems to be frostier than yesterday's sub zero dawn?
The roar of the surf has been in the background all night and in the flat light of another overcast daybreak those thick walls of folding water are still whomping their way onto the scattered rock outcrops and random piles of sand that make up our local surf breaks.
It's solid again, six feet, maybe eight, maybe bigger on the sets, all glassy - that oilly glass that is so rare along this coast, the lightest of breezes thinking about being offshore.
Yep, it's another good day to be surfing! It's big and bowling and looks set for the day, the wind is forecast to be light and offshore (mainly easterly) while the swell is only likely to build through this afternoon! There'll be waves for the strong of heart at all the main surf breaks while the sheltered spots and those in between will have plenty of surf too for the rest of us.
Watch out for those icy roadways and there is also a little snow forecast for this afternoon too!
Have a little look at this short film at youtu.be/AT3CeGjfvoo Filmed by Tim (Boydell), sung by Ruarri (Joseph), raked by Tony (Plant)!
And thanks to Red Van Rob for the suggestion of running a, 'strangest place to take a pic of a Constantine Bay Surf Store' travel mug' competition. And he's even kicked it off by supplying the image below of one of our finest coffee mugs sitting on an ROV (I don't know either! But I guess it's on a boat somewhere a long way away)! You know where to send them (email@example.com)!
Let's see if we can beat Toby's sticker at the Bank of England from last year!
The usual prizes and kudos and fame to the ones that are published!
